It’s Not all About the Flowers – Wedding Florist Sheffield
As a Sheffield based florist specialising in wedding flowers, it’s not a secret that we’re pretty passionate about all things floral! Here at Katie Peckett, we’ve worked with many brides and grooms over the years to design and create unique, stunning, and unforgettable wedding flowers in Sheffield.
But in our opinion, although beautiful wedding flowers are incredibly important, weddings aren’t all about the flowers when it comes to the aesthetics of your big day. So, what other decorative elements should you be focussing on to make sure you have the wedding day of your dreams? Here are a few of my ideas!
Wedding Table Inspiration
We’ve put together many floral runners, garlands, and arrangements for a variety of wedding tables over the years. But there’s so much more to think about when it comes to putting together a beautiful wedding table. Whether you’re braving the DIY route, or you’ve got a clear idea of what you need to buy in, choosing the perfect wedding decorations for your reception can feel like a daunting task.
My main piece of advice would be to create a mood board of ideas that you like; whether that’s pictures you’ve cut from magazines or using a digital scrapbook such as Pinterest. Consider how your decorations will compliment your flowers and vice versa.
Magical Lighting
I always think it’s really important to create what I like to call a ‘romantic ambiance’ at a wedding. One of the best ways to do this is through lighting. A personal favourite of mine is using string lights to decorate the ceiling on your reception space. This has been a particularly trendy favourite over the past year, and it’s easy to see why. The delicate tiny glows of string lights do create a lovely romantic glow that adds that extra bit of subtle sparkle to any wedding. If you’re hosting an outdoor wedding, you could even string the lights through the trees and branches, giving a relaxed, fairy tale vibe that’s perfect for such a romantic occasion.
Create a Greenery Wall
Another top trend for 2021 is floral walls, which have risen in popularity recently. Set to be the next big trend, however, is a greenery wall! Instead of statement florals, the greenery wall gives a paired back, yet still impressive, backdrop for any wedding. A cluster of various shades of green is a sure-fire way to bring fresh life into your reception space, and it can create a unique photo backdrop too! You can leave your wall as it is, or why not consider a custom neon sign? In my opinion, a greenery wall will work anywhere in your wedding venue, whether it’s behind the altar as a backdrop to your ceremony, or it’s used in your reception venue.
