Floral Trend Update – Rustic Arrangements for Autumn
As a Sheffield based florist, it’s my job to keep a close eye on up-and-coming trends in the world of floristry. Trends come and go, but it’s always fascinating to see new, unique ideas infiltrating the industry, not to mention a constant source of inspiration and excitement for me! The rustic floral trend has been around a while now, but with Autumn just around the corner, there’s no sign of it disappearing. Rustic floristry lends itself so well to Autumn colours it’s easy to see why this trend is here to stay.
Back to Nature
Recently, we’ve seen an upturn in demand for free-flowing floral arrangements beautifully interspersed with plenty of greenery. Organic looking, naturally styled forms and designs have become increasingly popular in table centrepieces, arrangements, and bouquets.
Mixed Media & Floral Décor
Another great way to embrace the rustic trend is to add mixed media to your rustic floral décor. Taking rustic to the next level with different types of media can create a truly unforgettable Autumnal arrangement. Why not try adding fabrics, metal, and organic textures from wood, stone or even moss into the mix? Incorporating the naturalness and beauty of wood is a lovely way to bring the outdoors in, while metal can add an industrial feel which creates a striking effect when juxtaposed with Autumnal blooms and foliage.
Embrace Rustic Additions
Incorporating rustic additions in your Autumnal arrangements are an on-trend way of embracing the rustic theme. Now extremely popular in the interior design world, not to mention social media, dried elements are a really effective way to add a rustic twist. Try adding dried lotus pods, preserved eucalyptus, or dried artichoke and thistles for maximum rustic wow-factor.
Rustic Autumnal Wreaths
Despite their popularity around the festive season, wreaths are definitely not just for Christmas! Try embracing the rich colour palette of autumn with warm, luscious colours in a rustic wreath, using flowers, leaves, dried flowers, and seed pods. Wild grasses in understated, earthy tones can also add fantastic texture and shape to wreaths, with the added advantage of being hardwearing and easy to look after.
